Become a Lifesaving Sport Coach!
Are you passionate about coaching, athlete development, swimming, lifeguarding, or surf lifesaving?
The Lifesaving Sport Coach course prepares coaches to safely lead pool and surf lifesaving sport training and competition programs. Whether you're a current or former athlete, lifeguard, swim coach, surf lifeguard, or recreation leader, this course is a great opportunity to get involved in one of Canada's most exciting, humanitarian water sports.
Course Dates:
Online Session – June 14, 2026 (6:00 PM–8:00 PM)
Classroom Sessions – June 15 & 16, 2026 (4:00 PM–8:00 PM)
Pool Practical – July 4, 2026 at Shearwater Pool
Optional Surf Practical – August 2026 (Date & Location TBC)
Course Fees:
Pool Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1: $225 (tax & books included)
Pool + Surf Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1: $250 (tax & books included)
Both options include emergency response event training.
The current prerequisite for the course is a Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) certification.

Canadian Lifeguard Challenge (CLC) was hosted by the Lifesaving Society (Ontario and Nova Scotia branches) on August 6th 2024 at Martinique Beach, NS. Check out the videos below for some drone footage of our Canadian athletes competing in the three rounds of the Iron guard challenge!

Winter Registration Policy
Pre-registration through the website will be mandatory for all winter competitions. Registration deadlines for all competitions will be 48 hours prior to the competition. A minimum of 20 registered athletes are required for each competition. If the event is cancelled, cancellation notices will be sent to all registered athletes within 24 hours of the registration deadline.
